Tortuguero National Park is the third most visited place in Costa Rica. It is located in the Limon Province, 52 miles northwest from Limon, the capital city.This National Park could only be traveled by boat or small planes because there are no roads. This National Park also lives up to its name "Tortuguero", which in Spanish means, region of turtles. There are many sea turtle nests along the shores and is home to four of the worlds' eight green sea turtle species. They include the Leatherback Sea Turtle, the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle, the Loggerhead Sea Turtle, and the Hawksbill Sea Turtle. In addition to many different species of turtles, there are also wildlife that one may find in a rainforest like monkeys, gators, etc. The National Park also protects most of the wildlife, covering over 46,000 acres of protected land.
